The Halifax Elementary School Committee (the Committeeî) is a five-member committee elected from the town's population and serves a three-year term, per successful election. The committee has responsibility for implementing statutory requirements pertaining to public education and the citizens of Halifax is expectations for the education of the community's young students. It also has an obligation to determine and assess the expectations of the parents and citizens of the town regarding the education of our children and bear these in mind when making decisions for the school. When citizens elect committee members to represent them in the conduct of public education, their representatives have the authority to exercise their best judgment in determining policies, making decisions, and approving procedures for carrying out these responsibilities.

The Committee is dedicated to the well being and education of the K-6 grade-level students of the town. In connection with this responsibility, the Committee has management responsibility for making policy decisions, determining performance standards, participating in the collective bargaining and creating and operating the school within a budget, set in conjunction with other elected town officials and the townís voters.

If you wish to be scheduled to address the Committee regarding a concern or issue at a meeting, you can contact any Committee member prior to one of the above dates to be added to the meeting agenda.

Adelphia broadcasts the meetings on the government channel periodically the week following each meeting.  If you cannot attend a meeting, this is a great way to stay informed about your child/childrenís school and education.

Thank you for your continued support!
